2013 Hostelworld Conference and HOSCARS (Dublin)
Hostelworld has announced the dates for the 2013 Hostelworld Conference and HOSCAR awards: 21-22 February, 2013
Location: The Convention Centre in Dublin City Center (Dublin, Ireland)
Price: FREE*
Schedule of events:
20 Feb – Evening welcome drinks at the Guinness Storehouse
21 Feb – Conference with presentations as well as scheduled meetings with your Buddy during the day, then HOSCAR award ceremony and dinner/party in the evening
22 Feb - Conference presentations and scheduled meetings with your Buddy
By popular demand this year’s conference will last two days instead of one, allowing more time for key note presentations, networking, and meeting with your Buddy.
Registration is now open!
*Please note: The conference is free to attend, but there is a significant cost to HW for the event. Last year there was huge demand and a large amount of No Shows. This year No Shows or cancellations made less than 7 days in advance will be charged 100€, invoiced to your hostel.

Wish I could have made it to Dublin.
I was just looking at the 2013 Hoscar results and the customer ratings are different than the awards. For example, here's a hostel with 98% rating (181 reviews) that came in #2 after a hostel with 85% rating (243 reviews). A few percentage points would be explainable, but in this case it's a 13% difference. Does anyone know exactly how the award system works?

Nobody knows and nobody knew before the awards were given. There are many more examples of this in the awards by continent

The ratings of the last years count. Think the percentage you see is the complete rating from the last I don´t know how many years...
Possible that the 85% rated Hostel had 70% in 2011 and then 100 % in 2012
