Any non for profit organisation is in my opinion an applaudable notion, but in reality if the business savvy is not in situe then the endeavour is normally run as a hobby and the ability to provide the original goals is lost in simply keeping the business alive (or the hobby afloat) It is better to start with a workable business plan with set objectives and then use the profits to provide the charitable causes. Remember wherever the original capital used to start your business came from be it your own pocket, family and friends, donations, grants etc. you will still have a moral duty to repay this money and therefore charitable goals have to go hand in hand with a P&L forecast.
