Hostel Manager

Potomac Area Hostels (501c 3 non-profit) is seeking a General Manager for its Seven Hills Hostel in Richmond, VA which will manage all aspects of daily operations, staff training and recruitment, ensure quality standards, and manage community development initiatives. Ideal candidates will have 3+ years of experience in hostels or hotels with an understanding of the non-profit industry. Responsibilities include:

Hiring, training, and performance management of hostel staff.
Creation of hostel promotional materials
Growing hostel sales through developing group booking contacts and contracts.
Set standards and procedures for property maintenance, front desk operations, and housekeeping teams.
Manage guest feedback in person and virtually through review websites.
Set performance goals and maintain active revenue management strategies to work towards these goals.
Manage team to maintain all hostel facilities in proper working order.
Conducting purchasing for the property in line with brand guidelines and actively manage relationships with suppliers.
Establish and manage an annual operational budget.
Create monthly profit and loss reports.
Organize and distribute payroll
Maintain accurate expense and revenue records.
Utilize property management software to ensure inventory and pricing is correct and competitive.
Plan for and manage guidelines to create social atmosphere within the hostel.
Organize and execute onsite activities and special events.
Engage with PAH volunteers and donors.
Prepare reports and present to PAH board members.
Ensure hostel meets legal and industry standards for operations.
Any other duties as needed or assigned.
Compensation:

This position is salaried at $25,400 and includes a free, onsite manager’s studio apartment with all utilities and internet included.
This position will accrue 7 days of PTO after 6 months of employment and earn an additional day for each month worked thereafter up to a maximum of 14 days per year.
Free stays can be arranged at our Harper’s Ferry location.
Hours and Expectations:

While hours will vary, this position will require a flexible schedule. Expect to work 40 hours a week between Wed - Sun. This position will regularly work weekends, evenings, and holidays. Understanding of overnight, on-call availability.
We will consider couples for this placement who are interested in splitting duties. If interested in this option, salary per person will be negotiable, and at least one person must agree to live onsite.
English fluency required, additional language skills are a plus.
Must be able to access second level of building by staircase and lift up to 50 lbs
Familiarity with Cloudbeds booking software and Google Suite a plus.
