Hostel work in Montevideo, Uruguay - paid & volunteer

Montevideo Chic is a recently opened hostel in the heart of Montevideo, Uruguay.

We are looking for staff who can start now or within the next couple of months, both paid and volunteers.
Requirements:
- English, Spanish & Portuguese (at least 2 of these should be fluent)
- strong sense of responsibility and taking initiative
- a desire to provide excellent service and see people pleased with their stay
- flexibility (this is a small hostel, so the exact activities, working hours, etc. will change day to day and you should be prepared to adjust accordingly)

Paid positions are available to those who would like to stay 6 months or more. A trial period of 3 weeks on a voluntary basis will be required (this is both for us to see you in action, and for you to see if you like the job, the city, etc). After that, compensation will be based on occupancy and reviews. We cannot cover travel costs, so this is probably most suited to those already in the region.

For volunteers, please be aware that, although your workload will not be heavy, you will be expected to take your duties seriously, failing which you will have to leave.

When applying, please tell us:
- whether you are applying for a paid position or volunteer
- when can you start and how long would you like to work here
- your expectations and preferences in terms of compensation, duties, etc (for example "I like to cook", "I don't do cleaning")
- why you fit the requirements above (for example, how your initiative or sense of service has benefited your employer or his clients in the past, or how it could do so in the future).
- whether you are ok using your own laptop or iPad to administer booking, facebook page etc (not a requirement)
- your skype id so we can chat

Something about the hostel: set in a beautiful, fully renovated colonial house with lots of character. Halfway between a hostel and bed-n-breakfast, it caters to those who like the informal and friendly atmosphere of a hostel, but demand for higher standards of comfort and privacy than can usually be found in hostels in Latin America. For this reason we only offer private rooms, and have refurbished the building to a high standard. You can read more on our website montevideohostel.com

Something about Montevideo: it is a city that offers all the entertainment of a capital city (arts, theatre, etc) but is not as chaotic and noisy as other large cities; people are generally friendly and relaxed, the quality of water and air is very good, and a short drive will take you to the beach or to the countryside.

thank you,
Enrico
Montevideo Chic HostelI founded Montevideo Chic to create a mid-range offering to young(ish) travellers. Quality and comfort, but still fun - a product that is much needed in South America.
