Hi my name is Tanja, i am 37 and live in a wonderful city in northern Germany called Hamburg. I am working and almost living on St. Pauli. This district is famous for its redlight district with clubs, parties and of course it is home of FC St. Pauli. Backpackers St. Pauli employed me 2007 for the opening and now i am almost 4 years the hostelmanager of this place. From 1994-1997 I served an apprenticeship as a hotel specialist. After that i worked as receptionist and as an event waitress. I quit the hotelbusiness 2000 and worked in several jobs, from secretary to kitchenhelp and waitress and bartenderjobs. Since 2007 i am back on track. I enjoy my work very much and the open people i meet from allover the world. In my sparetime i like cooking, travelling and my big love FC St. Pauli which is our local football club. I hope to find some people here to chat and swap experiences.

Hi Tanja, your message brings back memories as I lived near Hamburg for 2 years in the 80s, working at the university. I have stayed in the Youth Hostel in St Pauli, there were no backpacker hostels there yet. That must be an interesting place to run a hostel!

hamburg is an interesting place. thats what some more people thought and now we have a lot of backpacker hostels. it is interesting during summer, at the moment its too quiet for me.
