Greetings Everyone!
I am an MBA student at Babson College studying entrepreneurship and am working on a business project regarding hostels. I am wondering what the most common “pain-points,” or problems that hostel managers/owners face, and want to think about creative ways to solve them. “Lack of time” wouldn’t be specific enough, but could it be cleaning up after drunk people? Getting the wrong mix of people together in a room (early risers with partiers)? Harassment? Payment issues? Seasonality? Or something else? I am wondering what a unifying problem and solution would look like.
I am an avid traveler who has been to 20+ countries and stayed in several hostels while I was in the military (US Coast Guard). My business partner is originally from Argentina, speaks 6 languages and has lived all over the world and stayed in 100's of hostels. We are familiar with the hostelling experience from a customer perspective, but want to know more about the managerial side.
I am reading tons of articles and piecing together information, but would love a group of responses to the question of what is the most common issue is that all managers face on a regular basis.
Any input would be extremely welcome and appreciated!
Regards,
Peter
