Hello all,
We are in the process of opening the only hostel in Portland, Maine. The Maine Hostel will be the main base for backpackers, travelers, artists, makers, acrobats, skiers, hikers, and bikers in Maine and New England.
We envision a laid back hostel with a maker space and tinkerer esthetic that will showcase the local arts and culture scene of Portland, Maine.
With the Circus Conservatory of America set to open as the first institution for higher education with a primary mission to provide the highest caliber artistic education available in the United States to circus artists, and many maker spaces opening as well, along with a new recognition that Portland, Maine is being rated as one of the most livable and culturally significant cities in the US, we feel the time has come for Portland to have an internationally renowned hostel.
The Maine Hostel will have easy access to transportation and the innumerable outdoor activities that Maine is know for. The Maine Hostel will be the new main base in New England for travelers.

Is the Maine Hostel connected with the Circus Conservatory of America? Will your guests have the opportunity to learn circus arts, or is that a different project in Portland that is entirely unrelated?

Good Morning Brian,
We are not affiliated with the Circus Conservancy, although in this lovely small city we are personally connected with many of the folks who are developing Circ and the Thompson's Point project in general. We are currently fundraising, and have a lovely building in mind, but are also open to new spots should that become a possibility at the point.
Ideally we would be a home base for visiting artists and a place with space for gear as well as open bench space for guests to work on their bikes etc.
