Hello!

My husband and I are in the very early stages of (possibly) opening a hostel in the mountains of Virginia. We were inspired by these guys: www.crashpadchattanooga.com. We are headed out to their Crash Pad this weekend to check it out and see it in person.

We are excited about this possible new venture and moving to a lifestyle of 9-5 jobs to a community/outdoors hospitality lifestyle! (We are avid trail runners and hikers/campers.)

I am wondering if any of you have suggestions about how to connect with other hostel owners?

We don't want to show up in TN and ask for help right away - but we'd love to build a relationship with the guys there so we can connect with them in the future. We've got lots of respect for them! Anyway - any ideas or suggestions?

Hi Liz and Thomas. How was your trip to TN? Did you tell them all about your plans and get even more inspired?

Connecting with hostel owners is usually pretty easy since we all have so much in common. This forum is a good way to connect with people. Visiting hostels is also good. If you can't make trips all over, pick up the phone and give them a call. Most of us love talking about running our hostels and sharing ideas with other motivated people, so you'll probably get a pretty positive response from most hostels.
