Make sure you have a good social area which guests are attracted to. It should be on the way in and out, not just down a side corridor or in the basement which people have to search to find. It's good if the reception is in the same room, as long as it doesnt feel like a corridor. Have a bit of background music if you like, but not very loud. And if you have a TV in there, TAKE IT OUT!!
I hope you have a self-catering kitchen and a pleasant eating area -- that could be one big table, but not lots of little tables.
Staff should be ready to mix with the guests, start conversations, maybe introduce some of the guests to others to help to 'break the ice'.
