I stayed at Palmers lodge last week, and I guess this was what was in my room. I thought it was a tacky digital photo frame showing in-hostel ads, so I promptly ignored it. I thought it was a bit weird having a screen in the room.

What a pity you couldn't use it during your stay :(
Following your comment we just had a new flash animation which will help guest to use it and not just think that is just a digital photo frame.
We have actually a lot of positive feedback about the system on booking portal when people got the opportunity to use it, you can check it by yourself here.

Hi Kevin,
The website link you have provided works, but directs me to a site without ANY information. Just a blank screen.
Not a super positive first impression for a joy tech system.
