Need Insurance for Hostel
Introduce Your Hostel
Hey there,
I couldn't find a category that seemed to fit my question so I'm going to introduce myself and my hostel to you all and ask this VERY important question all at the same time. :) I'm hoping someone out there can help me. I did some research on this forum already and all the info was a couple years old and I did attempt persuing some suggestions to no avail.
My name is Beth and 4 years ago I turned my beautfiul log home in Driggs, Idaho into Teton Hostel Hideaway. We are located out in the country surrounded my farmland. I'm in the heart of the Grand Tetons but on the west side. Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole, Wyoming is just over the mountain to the east. I'm 2 hours from Yellowston National Park. (I also have a bed and breakfast 45 min. from Yellowstone called Kilgore Mountain Hideaway!)
Anyway, when I became a hostel I just kept my homeowners insurance but they are telling me I can no longer use them since I'm a business so I'm looking for an insurance agency that will insure my home/hostel including liability insurance. I've spend hours calling around with no luck!
Any suggestions?

You need an insurance broker who specialises in accomoodation

A couple years ago Lloyd's would not insure a hostel but I could check again. And I'll check the other one out to. Thanks! I've been calling so many places that specialize in accommodations but nobody seems to want to insure a hostel!

I checked my policy yesterday and is was with Axis... But if you contact Arthur J Gallagher who are a broker then they will be able to sort out insurance for you. They are one of the biggest insurers in the world I think so it shouldn't matter which country you are located in

Have the insurance companies that specialize in accommodation told you why they don't want to insure a hostel?
I don't know if Allianz insures hostel businesses in the US, but they do in Europe. Maybe they could be a possibility for you?

I use a broker out of Seattle that’s been great. They bind my policy most times with Red Shield Ins. Ryan is my contact - tell him Grant sent ya.
