Photographer & Hostel Manager
Introduce Yourself
Hey All,
I just signed up for this website and figured I'd introduce myself.
My name is Shayne and I am currently living in Finland, Though how I came here is quite a story :)
I was born in South Africa and at the age of 6, I moved to Mauritius with my family and spent the next 14 years growing up there. Yes, it was a paradise growing up on the tropical beach :) and through those years, I learned French and the Native Creole language. I also got really big into scuba diving, kite surifng and other water sports. It was near my last year that I was there that I really got into Photography.
Once I decided to push photography professionally, I moved to Zanzibar Island (Tanzania) where I worked in many places as well as doing photography for hotels and weddings. I managed a few backpackers (more recently, New Teddys Place on the east coast). I love the hostel industry and get on really really well with all people I meet.
I now have moved to Finland to be with my Girlfriend and Ive enjoyed the European lifestyle, but I still would look at going back to the hostel/traveller lifestyle. We both would.
So, if anyone of you have any openings or would like to get in touch, feel free... :)
Oh, did I mention I love photography? :) you can check out my work here at www.shaynethomas.com ... I made most of my cash in Zanzibar through Interior and Hotel photography. Thats a huge benefit of having me manage a place because whenever new marketing material is needed, I have the skills. And not to boast/brag too much, but I do have some of the top range equipment now :)

Welcome to the site! The photos are beautiful, and experience photographing hotels cold really come in handy for the hostel that picks you up. Good luck!

Yes I do. I managed a hostel on the east coast of Zanzibar Island (Paje) called New Teddys Place. I was in charge of all the bookings, staff duties, making sure all maintenance was done right and more often than not, keeping guests entertained with parties, tours and general info. Also, Ive heard great things of Panama and was just telling my Girlfriend the other day that it would definitely be on a place to go and see.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the kind words :) Yeah, I hope so :) Its always a great idea to have up to date photos of a place and especially ones that are done professionally. It keeps the marketing up as well as the exposure.
