Reimagining the $9 trillion tourism economy—what will it take?
Hey everyone, I recently read an article that McKinsey published on the future or the tourism industry following this pandemic. Evidently, radical changes will likely need to be implemented and different approaches will be taken based on each proprietor's circumstances. McKinsey has posited 4 different approaches to "reimagining" this dynamic industry. They are as follows:
Streamlining public–private interfaces through a tourism nerve center.
Experimenting with new financing mechanisms (ie. joint equity funds for small and medium-size enterprises).
Ensuring transparent, consistent communication on protocols.
Enabling a digital and analytics transformation within the tourism sector.
I'd love to hear y'all's take on the material as well as your projections on the future of the hospitality/tourism! Do you think any of these routes are feasible? Have you already seen some of them be implemented? Personally, the public-private sector crisis management teams really resonated with me. Article link below. Enjoy!
