Hi guys, after backpacking for a year around australia in 2005/6 i returned to ireland to gain residency for australia as I love the lifestyle here. An electrician by trade made this easy for me but I hate my Job! Im now back in australia 3 weeks and after 3 years of mundane working 9 to 5 for the man with no job security Ive decided I want to be self sufficent and work for my self by opening a hostel, the idea has been with me since I started travelling 4 yrs ago.
Im am fairly up to date at what bacpackers and long term travelers want from a hostel but when it comes to the busniess side of things I fall down. So youll find me around the place picking your brains about busniess loans, busniess plans and calculating the costs of refurbishments and basically how to get started!
Any help will be greatly welcome and hopefull I too will pass on my learning experience someday

Hi Paul, may I suggest getting a job in a Hostel, this way you will get on the job training. Attitude is important, be a sponge, ask questions, and NO job is beneath you. Work for the best GM you can find, even if they are on the other side of the country! Being a GM\Owner is not like traveling.
