Hi all, great that such a forum exists and from the looks of it, there is plenty going on...
I have just joined and am hoping to end my procrastination... I am looking to partner, manage, own (one day) and bring energy, ideas and passion to a hostel project in Ireland or perhaps further afield. If anyone has any insights, direction, guidance or a plain heads up on any opportunities please do get in contact. This is something I have been day dreaming about for years and not a passing whim. Time to make it happen and to start the move in the right direction...

Welcome to the Hostel Management community, and congratulations on deciding to act on your dream! I’m excited for you!
It’s great to hear that you’re ready to stop procrastinating and make your dream a reality. Many people in the forums can attest that the best way to make it happen is simply to dive in headfirst. You have a background in sustainable business, so you know how to build a stable structure. You have already traveled, so you know what you like in a hostel. You have already worked in hostels, so you have a realistic understanding of what you’re getting yourself into. Most importantly, having already gotten a taste of it, you still want that lifestyle for yourself. That puts you in a great position!
So what are the challenges facing you that have to be addressed in order to make it happen?
- Financial considerations?
- Technical knowledge?
- Finding a great location?
- Outside support? (business partner or simply moral support)
- Something else?
If the procrastination is over and you’re ready to move forward, what might be some of the next steps you would need to take? How can we help you with those steps?
