Traveller expectations: European / N. American / Asian / Australian, etc

I'm interested to hear perspectives on regional travellers' preferences and expectations at hostels, whether it be services or amenities or other. What can a hostel offer to try to ensure each guest receives the service they are expecting, or are experiencing a comfortable stay (generally, not too specific or one-off situations).
