Former Google engineers have launched a new search engine called Cuil.com ("cool").
Cuil.com claims to index more of the Web than any other search engine:
Cuil searches more pages on the Web than anyone else—three times as many as Google and ten times as many as Microsoft.
Another feature that Cuil offers is increased privacy:
...our privacy policy is very simple: when you search with Cuil, we do not collect any personally identifiable information, period. We have no idea who sends queries: not by name, not by IP address, and not by cookies...
This is an interesting comparison to Google, who actually have abysmal privacy ratings:
Rights group Privacy International rated [Google] as "hostile" to privacy in a report ranking web firms by how they handle personal data.
