Information was recently released about the upcoming integration of the channel manager MyAllocator with Hostelworld’s property management system BackpackOnline. This integration is scheduled to be announced at the upcoming HW conference at the end of January.
As speculations began to spread through the hostel industry about the repercussions of this partnership, we thought it best to get the information directly from the source. I sat down for an interview with Adam Harris, CEO of MyAllocator, to discuss the integration and what it will mean for hostels.
What is this integration going to mean for those hostels who are already using BackpackOnline (BPO) as their property manager ?
What will this integration mean for any MyAllocator users that are not currently using BackpackOnline?
What information is shared with your Online Travel Agent (OTA) partners?
Is there any additional information from Property Management System (PMS) partners shared in the MyAllocator software, that could benefit or give an advantage to OTAs?
Is it possible for someone who is using BackpackOnline to now also use the MyAllocator "Book now" button for their own website?
Are you incorporating or planning to integrate other PMS systems?
What is the business focus of Digital Arbitrage (which acquired MyAllocator in 2014)? What does your company do?
Do you have other businesses or products?
Are there changes already happening or changes you see happening in the near future?
Are Mark and Mo still involved?
Is the current pricing strategy going to work for you (and continue as it is)?
Are there any other concerns or questions, frequently asked by hostels, that you would like to address?
