Irish hostels expect business to increase this year:
"Two thirds of hoteliers across the country expect business this year to be well ahead of last year, according to the latest tourism industry barometer survey by Failte Ireland.
But the decline at the lower end of the market continues, with bed and breakfast operators most acutely hit. Just 14 per cent of B&B operators said they expected to perform better this year, with 48 per cent saying that they would fare worse...
There was better news for hostels, which indicated an increase in the number of younger visitors this year. About half of respondents said they expected to be well ahead, compared to 18 per cent who expected to have a poorer performance.
Overall bed nights in hotels, guesthouses and B&Bs are showing the highest increase in Dublin, where three quarters of respondents said this year was ahead of last year."
