A building at 111 Ocean Street in Barnstable, Massachusetts is awaiting final approval for conversion into a hostel.
The late Ruth Rusher left her property at 111 Ocean St. in a trust to be converted into a youth hostel. The planning board unanimously approved a regulatory agreement proposed for a youth hostel in January....
“She set it up so that this property would be transferred to the Cape Cod Foundation so there would be local ownership,” said Ruhe [executive director of Hostelling International USA], adding that the Cape Cod Foundation, The Ruth M. Rusher Trust and Hostelling International USA would work together to operate the hostel.
“They would contract with us and we would manage the hostel money and operate it,” Ruhe said.
