A youth hostel in Chester (UK) will be closing:
A YOUTH hostel in Chester has withdrawn an alcohol licence application and will be closing in October.
The hostel on Hough Green, part of the Youth Hostel Association (YHA), had recently applied for a drinks and entertainment licence, but withdrew the application.Senior licensing officer at Chester CIty Coucil, Mr Morris, said that the application was withdrawn on Wednesday.
"They were applying for a premises licence for the sale of alcohol regulated entertainment for 24 hours a day. Lots of local residents expressed concern and made representations and objections," he said.
"Some residents were very good at finding out the background and accounts had been filed to say they were in some debt."
[...]
"They decided if it's going to close in October, then it's not worth having a premises licence for just a few months."
