Im just dropping some lines to say Hola. I'm new at this type of forums, I'm Tolish from Lima, Peru. I came across this site doing some research for my hostel. My family and I opened a hostel in Lima a year ago.

Ah, Lima! I´ll never forget Hotel España. Got stuck there for two weeks because we never went to bed before sunrise - Rooftop terrace and booze store in the same building = boracho cada noche.
Lima is a crazy city. Where is your hostel located?

Yes, it sounds like Lima. One of my guest said to me a couple of weeks ago that Peruvians drinks too much!
The hostel is located in Barranco - the soho side of Lima

I have spent a few evenings in Barranco. You can´t compare that with Soho, London - Soho is a dull & dead place compared to Barranco! It´s not big, but there are bars and clubs in every house - and not just on ground floor, but upstairs and in the basements, too. On weekends, they are so crowded that many people just get their drinks inside and then sit down anywhere on the sidewalk or in the middle of the road. Totally crazy, I loved that. :)
Does the "más allá" still exist? That was my favorite place.

I always thought of Soho, as the artistic part of the city, where you can find cultural spaces like theaters, art galeries, bars but maybe i have a missconception of it.
Barranco is a beautiful part of the city, and the cultural movement is getting stronger minute by minute, the theater here is doing some great shows, the independet cinema we have in the area is an unreveal treasure, the art galeries are showing more younger artists as well as outside lima artists.Im so proud of being from Lima and speacially having the oportunity of opening my familys bussines here in Barranco.
Más Allá closed! that bar has been close for ages now!!!
Barranco has change since then, we have more dancing bars now oriented to turists mostly or young teenagers. And now we have a Zanahoria Plan - this means that all the bars must be closed by 3am and people can't drink on the sidewalks- but if you find a nice bar you can stay and they close with you inside. But still you can find fantastics bar, for a year now that I have opened this hostel, I have became a fan of Juanito's bar, this is abslutely fantastics old bar that people that you find there is a mixture of old people, young people , young artists.
I just love it! you can eat there the most "ricos" olive sandwichs, peruvian jam sandwichs and of course enjoy a great atmosphere.

there is no peruvian hostel website at the moment, you can take a look at the regular sites of hostels and you can find most of the hostels in Lima, there.
