Matt from Perth

Hey everyone, thought I'd chime in and say hello.

As you may have already guessed my name is Matt and I live in Perth! I also run a software development company (Wandering Worlds) that is focused on building solutions for the backpacker / budget travel industry.

My little adventure started over 5 years ago when I decided to take a year away from my university studies to explore Europe.

After a few months of backpacking around I looked in my wallet and found nothing but a soon to be expired Eurobus pass. Having no idea what to do I jumped on the next bus that was headed to Rome. After looking through my Lonely Planet guide, I found the closest hostel and asked for a job. Luckily enough the were looking for people and so started my love affair with all things hostels and backpacking.

Quick Hostels is the first project that we've launched; it's a hostel search engine much like google but instead of finding booking websites in you will only find actual hostels.

The idea behind it is that people are wanting to deal directly with hostels rather than via booking sites. I've come to this conclusion after talking with friends and people at hostel who have had issues with booking sites.

Our next project is something much bigger, I don't want to give too much away but we're basically building a system that integrates everything together; from the website all the way through to the front desk! When I have something to show you'll see it first on the Hostel Management Forums.

Phew sorry for the long post, I'm excited to be apart of the community and look forward to talking with everyone about hostels!
