Welcome Lee and Nancy to the Forum, and good luck with your business!!
If you guys want to get known in Europe, and get to know hostel owners from the main hostels around the world, why not come to the European Hostel Meeting in 2010? It is going to be held in the city on the Italian island if Sicily from 21-23 March 2010 :)

Good to hear of a new hostel in Seattle! I have mixed experiences of past ones. The AYH was pretty good, and the loud noise of the freeway drowned the snoring of my dorm mate! I stayed in the Green Tortoise which was too casually run -- eg sorry, no rolls for breakfast today. Hope yours is going to be friendly and sociable.

I hear where you are coming from. Did you notice during your stay that we have more seats than beds! That should give us a high sociability index!

I hadn't noticed that as such, but I had of course noticed the 'common room' that everyone has to go through, and the large tables so that people are encouraged to sit with others without feeling intruders, and the lack of a TV, and the manager who takes a constant interest in the hostel and is frequently around. Without question your hostel gets a 10 for sociability.:):)

Welcome Seattle Rookies!
Might I inquire about your zoning classification? I'm interested in a start up and wondering whether Hostels are classified as room and board in the US; or if it varies state by state...
Best of Luck!
