finally got to this box lol (!) No i dont work at a hostel, but having been keeping up to date with them around the world for years. Now its my time to try them out and cant wait for my first job!

what disappoints me is that hosteling appears to be aimed at teenagers and young adults. I would be really upset if my age stopped me having a go at this as i would really love to it. I am 53, but look 35 and act 21!! would my age be a problem. i hope not, i have so much that i could offer.:confused:

Abbey – hello youngster. I am just 4 years off the UK retirement age but have no plans to give up my hostel job for a long time yet. The folk keep me feeling and thinking young. If I look back at my former life in the UK I have to quote Bob Dylan “I was so much older then, I’m younger than that now.”
Hopefully many hostel managers realize the benefits of employing someone in their mid-life:
They are more likely to stay for years rather than months.
They have more life experience in dealing with ‘situations’.
They are generally more reliable.
They are better at getting up early in the morning.
Intoxicated youngsters are better behaved in their presence.
Good luck job hunting.
