Has Your Hostel's Location Changed in Quality over the Years?

Has your hostel's location changed in quality over the years? I'm thinking of one hostel in particular which wasn't in the best location 10 years ago, but it wasn't as bad as it currently is. The neighborhood is now really unsafe, especially after dark.

I've overheard travelers canceling their bookings there after locals and other travelers told them that the neighborhood isn't safe.

There are a few cities I can think of which once had crime problems and are now safe.

Have you noticed a change in your city for better or worse?
