HI-Banff Alpine Centre is located 1km from Banff Avenue, just far enough away from the downtown core that guests will see elk, deer and other wildlife right outside their window regularly,
and have fantastic views of the surrounding mountain vistas.

Our purpose-built hostel has lots of common spaces and kitchens in beautiful logwork motifs in a fantastic setting, a Pub and a full-service Restaurant.

We're a great place to stay for young backpackers who want to see the mountains, engage in cool adventurous mountain activities, stay up late, meet other like-minded travellers and stay in style! We're a perfect starting point for people arriving to Banff planning on starting their "working holiday" (see Job Seeker's Packages). We have a fantastic hostel for large groups, especially if they need catering.

Restaurant / Pub:
Our on-site Cafe, Cougar Pete's Restaurant & Lookout, provides diner-style breakfast and dinner food at affordable prices. The Storm Cellar Pub & Gamehouse opens in the evenings and is often the focus of many of our hostel activities and events, especially on Wednesdays and Fridays where we have Live Entertainment.
Facilities Notes:
Wheelchair-accessible washroom on Main building main floor - room 205 is best option for guests requiring this service. Wheelchair-accessible parking stall in parking lot. ATM on-site. Laundry is $2.50/wash, $1/dry. Self-store lockers available after checkout; guest rooms all have lockers and we have upgraded to powered lockers for laptop/cellphone/ipod recharging.

The HI-Banff Alpine Centre is 3km from downtown Banff on Tunnel Mountain Road and is easily accessible by private vehicle, public transportation or walking from downtown.
Free public transportation available - guests will receive a free city bus pass upon arrival, good for the duration of their stay.
If you're coming from the Calgary Airport, you can catch the Airport Shuttle.
Hostel is easily accessible from the Town of Banff (less than 5 mins drive) and Calgary on the Trans Canada Highway, 130km from the Calgary International Airport.
The hostel is minutes from downtown Banff on Hidden Ridge Way (a.k.a. Tunnel Mountain Road).
From Banff Avenue, go to Wolf, turn left on Otter. Follow road to the left at "Y" part of the road (between Douglas Fir Resort & Tunnel Mountain Chalets). HI-Banff Alpine Centre is on the right.
