Backpacker Hostel
The Hostel Tralala Salento is situated in a typical 'Paisa' house.
The hostel opened its doors in July 2010 after 6 months of re-constructing and re- everything. It simply has become a beautiful place. Bright, natural, modern yet authentic. With plenty of space to read a book, cook a meal, have a chat or enjoy the sun.
There´s a living room with a book exchange, a 32 inch television with cable and DVD and a large and varied collection of quality movies. All beds have duvets with white linen, good mattresses, soft pillows and all guests get a towel. The showers are always hot and the two kitchens are well equipped. There´s a supermarket around the corner.
Also there´s a patio with hammocks, a garden with sun terrace, free wifi, laundry facilities and rubber boots for rent. If you like to play poi you´ll get a free lesson. If you practice yoga you can borrow a yoga mat.
The general idea behind Tralala is to create a hostel that´s intimate and tranquil and provides all the little things that a traveller needs to make life on the road more comfortable. The styling is a combination of traditional wooden floors and ceilings, new and funky kitchens and bathrooms and lots of plants.
Hostel Tralala Salento has 4 rooms for guests.
Room 1 (the dormitory) and room 2 are located on the ground floor. They both have a big door to the partially covered patio. Room 3 and 4 are located on the first floor, with a door to the spacious veranda.
Room 1- Is the dormitory. It's actually two connected rooms, where 8 people can sleep in 3 bunk beds and 2 singles. Each guest gets a lockable drawer.
Room 2- Is a double room with a hippie-touch. There's a built-in cupboard for your belongings. A door opens out on to the patio.
Room 3- A spacious double room with a desk incase you want to work. You share a shower and bathroom with maximum 2 others.
Room 4- A double room with a private bathroom. Like room 3 it has a great view.
Currently Hostel Tralala is creating some additional space for you to enjoy and by the end of May 2011, there will be a new larger and improved TV lounge room, extra common areas to use and 2 new rooms with an additional 5 beds in total.
All beds have duvets with white linen, super comfortable mattresses, soft pillows and all guests get a towel.
Of course we think Tralala is one of the best places to stay, but don´t take our word for it, look at what some of our previous guests have to say on Trip Advisor;
¨One of the best hostels of our trip.
Hemmo (the owner) is lovely and he's done an excellent job revamping the old house into a cool and colorful haven. Everything from the white cotton sheets to the taps have been carefully chosen and put together.
There are two kitchens available to cook in, hammocks to relax in and a wide screen TV with a large selection of DVDs to watch.
It was a great pleasure to stay here and I would highly recommend going to Salento and paying Hemmo and his little black cat a visit.¨
¨Absolutely beautiful. There are so much thinking behind every single detail that makes everything perfect! It is right at the center, but calm and quiet.
Very nice kitchen and showers, and very beautiful garden. The dorm is divided so never feels crowded. Hemmo, the owner is very nice and you can tell that he loves his hostel.
This hostel was one of my best experiences in Colombia and would be a first choice when I come back.¨
Hostel Tralala is perfectly located to explore the incredible Valle de Cocora with it´s towering wax palm trees;
or take a horse back trip through the local countryside to a cascada;
visit an organic coffee finca, a beautiful and easy walk from the hostel;
or simply use Tralala as a great base to relax, read a book, catch up on sleep, drink coffee, and watch the world go by.
To get to the Hostel Tralala Salento you stay on the bus until the last stop, that's in front of the little office on the town's central plaza. Facing the office, you walk right, about 75 meters. Hostel Tralala Salento is the white/orange building on the left corner, in front of the local hospital.
Salento is easily accessible by bus from many destinations.
