BUG - the Backpackers' Ultimate Guide

BUG is a hostel database that lists information on all hostels worldwide free of charge, whether or not the hostel is using any online booking system. Hostels can not write their own description keeping the guide independent and unbiased; however BUG staff have visited and reviewed thousands of hostels and travellers can submit their own reviews of hostels that they have stayed at.

BUG is an affiliate of Hostelbookers and a booking link is incorporated in to a hostel's BUG review page for hostels that use Hostelbookers for their bookings.

BUG is in the process of adding hostel videos to the website and so far has filmed several hundred hostels in Australia and New Zealand.

BUG was established in 1997 and is the original hostel review website.

BUG also publishes travel guidebooks and is working on the 4th edition of its Australia guide and the 3rd edition of its New Zealand guide, which will be available in bookshops in October 2008.

BUG's goal is to list every hostel in the world and so far has every hostel everywhere except Africa and parts of Asia (and Norway and Sweden but we're working on that). If your hostel isn't on BUG just email me details to [email protected] and I will add it to our site.
