Hostel Flyer Exchange

The hostel Lollis Homestay in Dresden, Germany offers a centralized flyer exchange program for central Europe.

The idea is, that all the hostels do the same thing, they send their flyers to other hostels. But we all send them to the same hostels. E.g. I send a bunch of my flyers to the Generator hostel in London and many other hostels do the same. If we would be able to do it together, we could pack one big parcel instead of many small envelopes. We also collect addresses of other hostels. Everybody does the same work, thats not really effective.

So the idea came up to do it together. This will save money, time and work, because some work will be done only by one person, e.g. collecting addresses, the actual mailing, printing oder writing addresses on the envelopes etc. Its far cheaper, because we can share the price of a big parcel.

It works like that: You send your flyers to Dresden. Please mail them loose, we will weight them anyway. We pack the parcels and mail them to the destination hostels. After everything is done you will get an invoice. Easy, isn't it?

How do you let us know where to mail your flyers? There is an online database on www.flyerexchange.net. If you want to join the flyer exchange, you should ask us for a personal login. If you just want to have a look, you can always login with username: "test", password: "test". Please don't change this password, otherwise other people can't use this login anymore.

There you will find a list of hostels where we mail flyers to. You can enter the amount (in grams) you want to send to every hostel individually. After you press return or the red button down left "SEND ORDER" the prices for each hostel appear and also the total in grams and in Euro at the bottom. You can play with your list until it fits to your needs.

The advantages are, that it is far cheaper than the usual postal service, that you can always use an up to date address list, that you have an easy to use online tool to calculate the price and the amount of flyers you want to send around, that there is hardly any work left to do and that the attention for this one parcel at the destination hostel is probably better than for a small envelope.

The disadvantages are, that all the flyers need to be sent at one time, that means you have to follow our timetable, that it's hard to grant special requests, e.g. some extra posters to only a couple of places and if the amount you send us is not right, you will not be able to change something on your wish-list, some of your brochures will be left or your flyers don't go to all places you wish.

For your calculation: To the shipping price we charge you have to add the price for shipping to Dresden and international bank transfers cost some money to. But you safe on the work of collecting the addresses, the work of package, the packaging.
