AllTheRooms is a new metasearch site that aims to include every possible accommodation type in one search – hotels, hostels, AirBnB, vacation rentals, and even free rooms.
Startup pitch: All the rooms in all the world – that’s the promise of this new accommodation search
This includes not just hotels, but other paid accommodations like hostels, opaque deals from Hotwire.com, and Airbnb listings. Free options are also included, as the startup truly attempts to make all the world’s bookable room inventory searchable.
This could be a pretty big deal for us. Hostels are already listed. If AllTheRooms can list free rooms and paid accommodation options that are not sold through OTAs, then perhaps hostels could work directly with them instead of getting our prices from sites like HW?
From co-founder William Beckler:
We have affiliate deals with most of our partners already, and we expect more to come on board. However, we intend to show everything that’s out there, whether we have an affiliate deal or not. This is what makes our product unique, and it is how we will differentiate ourselves from every other metasearch site out there.
…
Today, metasearch companies follow the same set of unwritten rules: only show content from paying providers, only use APIs (not scrapers), optimize for revenue per visitor. We are breaking all three of these rules with the real aim of optimizing for customer happiness. This is how we will win loyal customers away from the more established competitors
Very promising!
