A new hostel/hotel called Mosaic House is opening in Prague. It will be a joint venture between Bohemian Hostels (Sir Toby's, Miss Sophies, Czech Inn) and the Beds and Bars Group (St. Christopher's Inns, Belushi's, Flying Pig).

What is praise worthy from Flying Pig Hostels in Amsterdam , that they have very good advertisement in North America.
I think during the last 10 years , a lot of American students backpackers who travel to Amsterdam choose the Flying Pig hostels.
You can never say the same about British , Italian or any other tourists , who go to Amsterdam.
I used to work in a tourist office there , and I was surprised how the Americans go to Flying Pig Hostel , even if another budget places are cheaper or nicer.
Considering the fact that Americans like Prague very much , ''the Beds and Bars group'' will have success there.

As long as they're not also selling their integrity and allowing the hostels to take a totally different direction, I don't see anything wrong with this!

Is Bed & Bars a rich business group?
I'm fascinated by the news, though I agree that small personalized hostels are my type rather than the big business type of operations and ownership... Is there room for small hostel owners to grow over there & in other parts of the world, how and what future? Small hostel operators should also help each other more, I suggest...

Half-joking, but you can email me anytime ;).... really, the cost of a whole hostel out here in Third World societies of Asia is maybe or perhaps the price of a one-bedroom thing or even a car in your part of Europe, no kidding!!! So when you get your golden handshake, come over here to buid a hostel beside a world-class beach! No kidding on the last line... :D

I´m fully aware of that. I met a guy in Cuzco (Peru), who bough a house just one block from the main plaza for just US$ 10,000.
So when you get your golden handshake, come over here to buid a hostel beside a world-class beach! No kidding on the last line... :D

Wow, a US$10,000 house near the plaza in Peru! We are affordable in the Philippines, but I live in the big capital city of Manila, so no prices like that near the plaza... we have bargains outside Manila, even islands...
Where else in south America or eastern Europe maybe, where low realty prices can still be found?
Did the recent global recession last year made realty prices go down in Spain or Greece or Prague or Poland? by how much?

Can anyone give advice how a hostel can register a brand name internationally? where to apply? how much the costs?
