It's baffling to me why non-profit hostel organizations would close profitable hostels at a period in history when independent hostels (that have additional taxes and restrictions) are expanding around the world.

Is there any way that the members could collaboratively review the finances of the organizations to see if there are other ways that the organizations could function without closing so many hostels? What is the money being spent on? Are management taking bonuses at the same time that they are closing hostels? Etc.
