We used to have a different refund policy for groups, e.g., no 24 or 48 hour cancellation. I think it's a good idea to take a large non-refundable deposit somewhat in advance to be sure you're not empty at the last minute. Or if the group checks in and then suddenly "doesn't like the hostel" and wants to check out. I think the agreement with the group should address that possible situation.
I think we once had a group of 100 students check in for a few days -- it would be bad to have a booking like that cancel at the last minute.
(Though it's arguably a bad idea to take a booking for 100 students during high season in the first place when you don't have much more than 100 beds :))
