Encourage Direct Bookings with this Poster
In order to increase direct bookings hostels need to work together to educate our guests. We need to tell them why it’s better to book their beds directly with hostels and encourage them to do so. With a push from us, backpackers will begin to develop this habit.
All hostels can easily join this important effort by printing the poster below and putting it up in a prominent position near your guest computers. (One version is in color, the other is black and white) This poster was recently sent to me and I think it’s brilliant.
In addition to putting up this poster, you can further assist your guests to book directly by making a contact list for all of the hostels in nearby cities where guests are likely to go. Whenever a guest tells you where they’re going, give them the contact details. Even better, offer to make the reservation for them!

Here’s a new poster that I received this week and wanted to share with everyone.
This poster targets the backpackers’ personal interests more than the last one. Backpackers travelers are concerned about their own budgets. A poster like this that shows travelers how THEY can save money might be more effective for encouraging direct bookings.

This image is also showing up on social media channels lately.
Posting this as your Facebook/Google+ profile picture is an easy way to spread the word about booking directly with hostels. If hostel owners, staff, and savvy backpackers all post the same image, then the repeated exposure (along with the poster above in hostels all over the world) would spread the message very quickly.
This could also be put on your website, flyer, or even made into stickers or badges to hand out to guests.

Looks great... One suggestion for flyer designers is to generate the original images in .png format rather than .jpg. JPGs are best for photos, but PNGs are usually best for anything with text. If you look closely, JPGs will degrade the quality of line edges and some of the solid colors.
