About The Current Owners
The current owners first visited Santa Marta 10 years ago as backpackers and fell in love with this Caribbean paradise, only to return several years later and finally settle there at the end of 2016, which is when they took over the reins of El Españolete, back then a fledgling restaurant business. With many years of experience in hospitality and architecture, the couple have enjoyed renovating the old house, and improving the business with an emphasis on good quality service and introducing well documented systems.
“We had a strong feeling of home in Santa Marta when we were travelling. It was always on our mind to return and run a business. We have loved setting up and running El Españolete and meeting all of the interesting people passing through our doors.”
They are currently planning their next hospitality project, and unfortunately the two projects can not run simultaneously, and with regret need to liberate the funds from the hostel in order to help finance the next business.
The current owners have developed many aspects of the hostel however there is still plenty of room to grow for the next owner to maximise on and take more benefits from the business.
The new owners will get to enjoy the work they’ve put into El Españolete by taking over a well established existing business with great positioning and 9.0 rating and 616 reviews (and growing) on booking.com, a strong cashflow, and highly documented systems.
This is the perfect investment or retirement option for anyone at any age.
Purchase will include in depth training with the owners in all aspects of the hostel management including booking systems, statistics, liason with tour operators, housekeeping, laundry and kitchen matters. The current owners also plan to have a continuing presence in Colombia if future help is needed.

Exceptional
· We had such a good stay that we extended 2 times.
The owner and his employees are really nice and can help you with everything you might need.
The location is awesome, really quiet but close to the center, beach and restaurants.
The rooms we had were really big and comfortable.
One of the best hostels we stayed on our trip. Value for money, would always recommend it.

Incredible staff - I’d happily stay here again
· Some of the kindest, generous and most helpful staff I’ve ever met in 4 months of travel in South America. I got an awful flu after going to Minca but all of the staff really looked after me and made sure I was ok. It really felt like a family. They’ll also give you great advice for planning trips around the area like: Minca, Tyrona national park, the lost city trek, palomino, costeño beach and many more. Breakfast is available at a really good price and is delicious with lots of choice. Kitchen is a bit small but has everything you’d need.
The rooms are clean with comfortable beds and there’s good air-conditioning.
The location is great as it’s not too close to the centre where it can be noisy but close enough to walk to the centre, and the beach is only a short walk away.
Additionally I really like that they provide soap and towels.
