Fake ratings and hostelworld!

Just 1 more example:
Not only the 98% hostels using fake reviews, but the lower rated aswell.
Museum Guest house 2 has only 77%, at Karoly korut 10.
Anybody can go there, they are closed. However they have a sign down, but if you go up you can realize, it is closed, rusted locks
if you look in the windows you can see a renovation for months.

Look the miracle: from 29th May til 31th May lot of good rating, Where they stayed?

Even the problem coming to hostelworld by some new hostels immediately rated up to 99%.

Interesting topic indeed... but I found it mostly exaggerated and without facts and evidence. I'd be really interested about more facts... I bet we all are but I'm afraid it's all like fishing with a stick in a muddy pond: fun for a while but just leaves empty stomach and some dirt on yourself.

I know personally many of the top rated hostels' owners in Budapest. Most of us became good friends as well during the past few years. We are kind of having the same routes. Been working in hostels before or stayed at some, does not matter.

BUT: We are all proud of each other because we make hostelling as an ART.

Most of us live on site, sleep only few hours a day because giving our guests a good time every day and when they leave, we say good bye to friends, not just another walking 10EUR. We work hard for our ratings.

We have the passion for our hostels like no one else can have but ourselves.
We bring the meaning of 'host' back into hostels.

I was sceptic myself about extreme high ratings until I took the effort to visit Portugal and checked out these award winner hostels myself. All these hostels have souls. The soul of the owner, the rightly picked staff, the careful setup and all the details deserve their hoscars.

Same in Budapest, Belgrade or Krakow, just to mention three neighbor cities with very high rated hostels, we deserve our ratings.
Where the competition is very high, it gives you to urge your work to perfection or face to shut down any moment... So competition is a big motivator. When we first opened, 7 ys ago, there were only 18 hostels in town. Up to date 125, including the 15-20 new ones every year and the 15-20 other ones who will shut down. Every year. Sorry to disappoint you but having a hostel in Budapest is no fairy cake.

Please face yourself the question: Is that possible to run a hostel at 98% anywhere on the world? Or are they cheaters as well? Have you been there to prove it?
If you can't run a hostel above X%, does that mean it's your fault or everyone else just cheats? It's easier to blame others than consider yourself and taking the consequenses... how about learn from it? ;)

Think twice having your business here... why Budapest, anyway? There are more people going to Vienna, London, Paris or any other big cities with less competition and lower rated hostels... You could be top rated in almost any of them with 92-93%! ;)

About a week ago we had to stay in a 72% hostel in Athens as most of the other hostels rated above were fully booked... some of them charge twice as much you could charge in Budapest and they are booked for several days ahead! I'm sure you can find some cheap properties in a country which nearly got bankrupt! :D

I am just so sorry about the result, I dont know was there any reason to write about it? will be more honest business, less cheating less fake reviews, better systems, more informations, less fake rating.
