Start a Hostel

I am new to this forum and really excited about learning the different facets of opening a hostel. I am currently looking for property in amsterdam, but I havent been able to find property on the internet. I am looking to rent the property and i hope to house 60-100 people. I am planning a trip for next month, but i would really like to have some prospective properties in mind. Thanks, seems like a great forum.

Hi shmoey,
Will you are waiting to take your trip, do some research on laws and regulations and the regulatory agencies that oversee the hospitality industry in Holland. I would go as far to do some basic research about the politics and even culture of that country.

When are you thinking of opening it?

Thanks Patrick, but I have already researched the local laws (just finished law school), but my major concern is actually finding a great piece of property. I am hoping to start my hostel next winter/spring. I am willing to invest 50k+ into the hostel, but i will look for loans for the remainder. Hostels, i would love some help in developing the hostel. I have been to Amsterdam twice and it is my favorite city in Europe (Budapest is a close second). Should I start calling commercial real estate brokers, continue looking through the classifieds, or just keep searching the internet? Thanks everyone
