I saw this today, and thought this feature is pretty genius, although could carry some "creep" factor with it. Also, I wonder how this will impact the social atmosphere of the hostel, where you actually have to physically meet someone and speak to them, instead of just emails and text messages.

Interesting. I have been using a variation of this for my tour company for the past 5 years. Only difference is you can only connect to the people interested in a trip with their permission. Works well and you get a group that has common interests and traveling styles.

Was at the presentation at the GOMIO conference and it got a lot of discussion. For our main demographic (18-30), I think this will be accepted without much problem. Cool merging of technologies.
