guestimate- How many on line bookers actually make a review?

Thats the question thats been in my head the last couple of days, can you help?

What percentage of your guest who use a 3rd party booker (i.e. Hostelworld- hostelbookers etc) actually bother to make a review thru that site.

Guestimates are accepted.

Nobody will answer this question because 2500 persons will know how many bookings his/her hostel gets.

Suggestion for Josh: make a little Surveymonkey site.

Just 5 questions:

  • Number of reviews (from the last 6 months, see your HW microsite)
  • Number of bookings in the last 6 months (see HW inbox => reports => sales analysis)
  • average rating (see HW microsite)
  • number of beds in your hostel
  • your email address

Questions 3 and 4 could confirm a suspicion I have: small hostels and good hostels get more reviews. Large ones (which have tons already) and bad ones make guests less enthusiastic of submitting theirs.

Everybody who submits figures will get the results with email.

Nobody will answer this question because 2500 persons will know how many bookings his/her hostel gets.

More than 2500 -- the site gets many more visitors than that per week :)

Suggestion for Josh: make a little Surveymonkey site.

I did the survey,
As I explainded in the comments, Since bangkok has had a bit of turmoil in the last 3 months and occupancy has been super low, I used the dates of July 18 2009 - Jan 18 2010.
bottom line result was 25% of bookers made a review.
After thinking an average is an average,,, I did the numbers (not in survey) for the last 6 months and the bottom line of bookers made a review result was 24%.
Am very curious on the over all results. I'm tipping now that between 20-25% of bookers make a review.

Please Take the time to do this survey. It does not take long as the numbers needed are easily posted on your HW page.

@ santaKlause - just showing your percentage of bookers who make a review will not be indictive of number of bookings. If I wanted to know how many guest someone has, I need only to look daily at there availability on HW and with a little guestimation my result would be fairly accurate.
But thanks for suggesting the survey, It will make the format easier for answers.

I did the survey, too. I think 25% are way above average, we have less here - but then, big hostel, hundreds of reviews already, so maybe less incentive to submit.
