Our Hamtramck (detroit based ) hostel is opening August 2017! I need help getting this running! Painting, assembly and other tasks are in the works. Once it is done, we need a knowledgeable international staff to assist!

That's exciting, Scott! Congrats on getting this far! We're busy property hunting down here in the south, but looking forward to getting to the same point as you in the future. I don't know if you're already there, but the facebook group for this website is called "HostelManagement.com" and folks are more active about commenting & responding on there, it seems. Are you just looking for employees/staff at the moment?

You might have some luck finding a team by posting a job listing in the Hostel Jobs section of this site.
If you already have the space to accommodate workers, you could also try to find some work exchangers to help you in the short run to get set up. Sites like Workingtraveller.com, World Packers, WorkAway, etc could be good sources of temporary help. Some of them might even decide to stay on to help you run it after they pour some of their heart and soul into the place.

How are you guys doing with the renovations? I just opened, finished the beloved renovation...And now the hardwork is only beginning..Especially if you a little bit (more than a little bit technolgy impaired AND if you didn't allow enough money in your budget for all the marketing ).
Good news is, The day that I was ready to receive guests, I listed the hostel on AirBnB ( I know, hostelworld takes a long time) I got my first booking and the guest arrived the next day. I have a very limited amount of beds listed with them and have been getting a constant flow of guests. I also listed on booking.com, a lot of no shows, a lot of cancelations, I contacted them and was really surprised as to how quickly I got a personal phone call. The man was very helpfull, went through my listing, sorted out some stuff. I am not getting that many bookings from them now, but the ones I am getting seems to be ligit. Everyone is confirming, and it"s all good.
I have to admit, that not being that busy, right of the bat, has been kind of a blessing in disguise, so I can get use to all these strangers in my house. ( city law requiers me to live on the premises. I have a private living area upstairs, did it five star so I have a escape if need be!) It hasnt been bad at all, actually love having people around , one of the reasons why I have opened the hostel. I am not the typical hostel owner, I am a 51 year old lady, from South Africa. What I do have in common with my guest is their lust for adventure and I am well travelled.
Kansas city MO is not really a destination, per say, except for conferences. I might be wrong but I don't think I am gonna get a lot of multiple night stays..Luckely , changing the beds is easy. I did spent some money, installing a central vacuum system, teying to keep house keeping easy, efficient and not noisy..and it is awesome. The Hostel has hardwood floors throughout and vacuuming them on a daily basis only takes 30 min!
I am completely new at this, but if you want to run ideas, thoughts by me , you are welcome...I most probably not gonna know the answers but I guess two or three or four heads is better than one.

Hey, that sounds like an awesome initiative! I've had some great experiences volunteering at places like Aguila de Osa in Costa Rica, https://aguiladeosa.com/ where the community vibe was just incredible. Helping set up and seeing it all come together was so rewarding. If I'm around Detroit when you're setting up your hostel, I'd love to pitch in with painting, assembly, or whatever else you need. It's not just about the tasks but about building something meaningful together.
