Reimagining the $9 trillion tourism economy—what will it take?
Hey everyone, I recently read an article that McKinsey published on the future or the tourism industry following this
Mr Cross says the international visitors are the key to supplying Australia with fruit and vegetables.
"The small crop industry's basically run by the backpackers," Mr Cross says.
"They do all the harvesting, the packing, the planting, the clean up.
"If it wasn't for the backpackers, the Australian people would not really eat."
Traditionally, the young travellers visit cities like Bundaberg to earn some quick cash.
But Mr Cross says he hasn't seen the same number of European travellers this year.
There is also an audio clip on the page.
Is anyone noticing a drop in backpackers in Australia due to the Australian dollar? Or even an increase in Australian backpackers abroad?
