I am proud to introduce The Hostel at Tinker's Station! We are a new hostel in Soda Springs, California catering to skiers, snowboarders, and outdoor enthusiasts that find themselves in northern California. Here's a little more information from our website:
The Hostel at Tinker’s Station is located on Donner Pass Road just off Interstate 80 in Soda Springs, California. The Station is in close proximity to some of Tahoe’s best ski and snowboard resorts, hiking trails and other outdoor activity locales.
Tinker’s Station provides its traveling guests with inviting, fun and safe lodging at a reasonable price. The Hostel is equipped with 30 beds in six suites with a common area and dining area. Guests may book a single bed or rent out an entire room with friends. For a small fee, guests may purchase dinner, breakfast and bedding. Tinker’s Station plans to provide its guests with multiple amenities including a hot tub, Wi-Fi access, games, movies, snowboarding rails and special contests.

Looks like a great spot. When I looked it up on Google maps a few minutes ago, Google told me it was seven hours from Berkeley -- but it looks like it's only 2.5 hours. I didn't realize that Lake Tahoe was so close. :)

actually a little more like 3 hours or so depending on the 80. Where in Berkeley do you live? I used to live on College and Channing (across the street from the new soccer field) and I'm now in San Ramon. Let me know if you're out in San Ramon and we'll grab a beer (or perhaps we'll meet at Raleigh's sometime).
