Im new, only really found the site tbh but it seems like a very usefull source of information. I am opening a hostel within the next 2 months and currently trying to sourch beds & bedding etc.
I have stayed in many hostels over the years and there are generally 2 types
1: Quilt / duvet
2: Double Sheet (thin layer & thick wooly layer)
I imagine the second option would be the best for hygiene as both sheets can be washed every time, but I wonder what is generally prefered by the customer? Also Is it hygienic to only wash duvet covers without washing quilts? What do most of you guys use?
Any advice you guys can offer from your valuable expericence would be very much appreciated!

I'm planning on starting me hostel as well.
My thoughts are as follows:
1) I prefer the quilt option
Using a double sheet is a good idea but only if the woolly layer is cleaned on a regulat basis - often they are not.
I am planning on using quilt covers and provide that to guests to use. Given some people will not use the quilt covers and just use the quilt I will get the quilts cleaned on a regular basis.

the majority of our properties are using two sheets. One fitted when possible or a flat and a flat on top. Sheets are washed each stay of course or if a guest has been in more than 3 days. Then a duvet inside a duvet cover. Duvet cover washed periodically, usually weekly or more often if required
