Hostel Insurance

uktrail, did you have any success finding hostel insurance or did you go with Ecclesiastical?

I put the question to our local high street broker, who I thought had contact with all the insurance companies, and I was perturbed when after 6 weeks she had not succeeded in even getting a quote from any of them, including Ecclesiastical!

So I was in panic mode and tried other routes. I eventually settled on a company recommended by several hostels in IHUK (Independent Hostels UK) in their forum. They are called "Town & Country" and were very helpful and prompt, with personal attention, and came up with a price which was quite acceptable, being about 60% of the price that my colleague mentioned above was paying on I think Ecclesiastical. (I also contacted I think it was NFU (National Farmers Union). They replied giving a similar quote, but they took some weeks to even get that far, which was far too slow when my entry date was looming.)

This is an issue also in Ireland.

A lot of Hostels finding it very difficult to get insurance as well as premiums going up very high.

I wonder if some of the associations in the UK and Ireland got together and approached a number of insurers advising of the amount of members they have and the setup we have it might work well.
