Here in Belgium, the regulations are as following:
'There should be at least 1 shower for 20 sleeping places'...
In reality however, 1 shower for 20 people isn't enough.. 1 for 10 or 12 places is more reasonable in my opinion..
Based on experience, what is a good ratio of showers to beds? It seems to me that 1 shower for every 10 beds should be sufficient, but I'd love to hear any opinions. Thanks guys

1 in 10 sounds about right. 1 in 10 or 1 in 20 toilets is also about right, but NOT if the toilets are all in with the showers. In other words, make sure at least some toilets are separate from showers.
1 in 6 is inadequate if the only toilets are part of the dorms and they are in with the shower as one room.

Our ratio is 10-1 and showers 8-1 (not shower connected) toilets.
Even at times of full capacity there has not been a problem. Our sinks are placed outside of toilet and showers. It turns out to be handy as if the showers are busy you can still do your teeth, shave and by then shower is available.

Thanks Bert.
It does make a difference. . some are not waiting on toilet or shower just want a bit of face wash and teeth brushing. even 2 can use the sink at same time, say brushing teeth. noone ever complains, mostly just smiles and shares, and thats what soi1 is all about.

Sounds like you're in it for the right reasons! I wish you great success!
