It's a live feed. When someone posts to their hostel blog, it automatically adds the post to the Twitter stream. Your latest post is showing now. :)

I've been working in hostels for a while and I've seen guests do quite a few stupid things, but my the finest example of someone on what I like to call a 'mental vacation' was the guy who unplugged the electric kettle, filled it with water and used the stove hob to boil the water. We heard the fire alarm and investigated to find the slowly melting cord, WITH A PLUG ON THE END, hanging from a blob of deformed plastic. I don't know what was worse, the smell or the impossible task of cleaning the stove.

Hello,
I'm wondering how to get to and from the Westbahnhof and your hostel (The Lounge), because the directions say to go two blocks. Is this possible when walking with luggage and to cross the Mariahilfer Strasse? (Are there sidewalks and places to cross the street?)

One of my favourite hostel moments wasn't actually in the hostel I used to work at... It was in a hostel we were staying at during a trip to Japan. It was one of those classic breakdown in communication moments... We were hanging out in the lobby and a German backpacker rocks up to check in. He approaches the Japanese receptionist and she smiles and says in English (which obviously isn't her first language) 'You want to check in?'. The German backpacker looks shocked and with wide eyes and a concerned voice, he says 'CHICKEN?!', to which she replies 'Yes Check in!'. They are stuck in this Check in/Chicken loop for a good couple of utterly confusing and hilarious minutes, the receptionist unsure why the backpacker is so shocked at the prospect of checking in and the backpacker gob-smacked that he is being offered a chicken...
'CHICKEN!?!?!?!?!'

Disgusting hostel moment-wise, in one of the hostels I used to work at, a dude was walking through the reception lobby... He suddenly starts walking with a bit of a limp... then shakes some poo out of the bottom of his trouser leg... Just like the Kimya Dawson lyric 'You shook a little turd out of the bottom of your pants'. The worst part was that the floor was comprised of oddly shaped tiles with deep crevices between each tile so the clean up job would have been a nightmare. Luckily I wasn't working that day! Score!
