I love this initiative. The commission incentive for higher guest satisfaction is a really nice touch.
Regardless of their size or time on the market, our industry needs more channels to get our beds out to travelers and reduce our reliance on any one OTA. It's great to see a booking channel being developed by hostel operators too!
Getting hostel operators to list their properties is one of the first challenges, but that is made significantly easier by connecting to channel management software. After creating a listing their workload doesn't increase at all if their inventory and rates are controlled by a channel manager. Currently you list a connection with ASSD. Will you be adding MyAllocator and other channel managers soon?
Once the hostels sign up, getting the attention of travelers is a significantly more difficult challenge. Do you have a plan set up for getting in front of travelers and attracting them to your site?
On your property sign up page you mention a commitment to transparency. This is really important for recruiting partners. Personally, I'm more likely to get excited about "some colleagues from our community who are building a new booking site" than I am about "a new booking site." Could you tell us a little about the people behind HostelSpots? Who are you? What hostels have you been running?
All the best guys!
