Hostelworld have announced the dates for the 2015 conference in Dublin, Ireland. The event will take place on 26 and 27 January, 2015. Registration is not open yet.
Due to the large number of attendants at last year’s event, this year’s conference will be by invitation only and space will be limited.

We are delighted to announce dates for the 2015 Hostelworld.com Conference which will take place on 26th and 27th January 2015. Registration will open soon.
2014 was our biggest conference to date with close to 500 delegates from 34 countries. This year our conference theme will centre on what is undoubtedly the most important part of our business - the customer!
Our busy 2 day agenda promises to be packed with relevant industry speakers and plenty of opportunities to network both before and during the event.
Our conference will take place in the Convention Centre, Dublin and this year the event will be “invite only”.Spaces will be limited to 2 people per hostel & 4 per hostel chain (3 or more properties)
As with previous years we are delighted to again offer complementary attendance to the Hostelworld Conference. Registration will open in the coming weeks at which point we encourage you to register your interest without delay.Looking forward to meeting you in Dublin in 2015.

The registration opened yesterday, 13 November. It is by email invitation only. When you receive your invitation you can follow the registration link provided.
If you did not receive an email invitation, you can register here and HW will get back to you to let you know if your application has been accepted or not.

It seems you have to have a certain level of business. I registered but got an email advising I wouldn't be able to attend as I dont give them enough business.

All good, flights booked. Still have to decide where to stay - a funky, modern hotel could be an option as well. Recommendations?

I won't be recommending hotels for a hostel conference. Always puzzles me when hostel staff going to hostel conference spend money in hotels.
For hostels I would recommend Sky Backpackers which is very nice and close to O' Connell Street, which is the centre of the city.

This invitation only is fantastic. Because if you want to go to a conference but are uninvited then it now is very easy for the unwashed to organise themselves to go to their own organised conference. Do we call it the Non-Dublin Unconference?

The Temple Bar Inn is a new, custom-built hotel right at one of the entry points to Temple Bar. it's right above Tesco if you know the area.
Full disclosure, I work for one of the owners - I didn't see it yet since being built but I did see the plans. if you'd like a hotel option run by hostel people - there you go.
Don't know if they are doing discounts for the meeting as i'm not involved in the business, but contact the front desk, i'm sure they know.
I concur on Sky Hostel as well. it was remodeled last year and it very comfortable. Again disclosure - I work for the new owner of that one as well. :-) I do know that they are doing either a big discount or a free stay for hostelworld attendees. Again, check with the hostel itself.

I agree with your perspective Ville. I have found some great ideas that I could revise for hostel use from boutique-type hotels. While hostels are always my first choice when travelling, sometimes it just doesn't work out that way and local hotels can have such a flavor and personality that it sparks new ideas.

I dont get this one. We just opened an expansion, a bunch of hotel style rooms with a hostel twist. I constantly want to develope my business and in my opinion there not always so much NEW to see at the hostels. I like to mix the procedures and services from the both concepts to create something great. If I am on work trip, I try to get best out of it - in a conference, but also on the time I spent at the accommodation. For me, the creative surroundings are most important to be creative. I want to learn different ways of doing things and it doesnt happen just by staying at the hostels all the time. I also use Air BnB, couchsurfing etc. to get the best understanding on accommodation business.
Besides, I dont see a problem giving my money to a private boutique hotel owner instead of multi property hostel chain.. just my opinion.
