Hostelworld.com Announces Sleep Credit Discount Giveaway

Hostelworld.com, the leading provider of online reservations to the budget, independent and youth travel market, today announced its "Sleep Credit" discount giveaway, which gives travelers a $10 credit towards their next reservation when booking a three night stay. $30,000 worth of sleep credits will be awarded during the promotion.
Starting on Wednesday, November 4th at 7 a.m. GMT, guests who book a three night minimum stay on Hostelworld.com in London, New York, Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam, Rome, Dublin, Berlin, Prague or Budapest will be awarded with a $10 sleep credit towards their next Hostelworld.com booking. This sleep credit discount will continue only while supplies last.

Clever promotion...

It is clever but very limited. Wonder if those cities chosen are due to the high number of hostels in them or if one or more of their competitors have eaten away at their bookings and they are trying to kickstart them back. Still good way to get some press. Works out to 3000 bookings for 10 citys. Seems like it could be a fairly short promotion.

The cities chosen may have to do with the average price of bookings.
It looks like Hostelworld make at least twice what they payout and get a repeat customer who is probably going to backpack around more than a couple of cities.

Prague and Budapest are suffering from the crunch for sure, regarding my experience. IMHO this promotion is about to stop the declining booking numbers they have. I have to ask my spy buddies around! :D
